6 things to make portrait day easier - for both employees and communication
When booking a day for employee portraits, you want it to go smoothly. No unnecessary waiting time. No useless images. And preferably without disrupting the day more than necessary. Here are six things I value - and that many of my clients appreciate.
Clinic owner at ease - a classic example of a portrait in a work environment
1. Make a plan - but keep it flexible
An overview of who needs to be photographed when makes things easier. But things are always changing. That's why we agree the framework in advance - and I'm used to someone suddenly not being able to make it or a meeting running late.
2. Inform employees (and keep it short)
Tell them it's a portrait - not a production day. That it only takes a few minutes. And that the images will be used internally and on LinkedIn, for example. Many people feel more comfortable if they know that it's not about "looking right", but about appearing natural and professional.
3. Drop the idea of perfection
The best images are created when you don't try too hard. I help you find the right expression and make sure the light and angle are right. It's not about looking like someone else - it's about looking like yourself on a good day.
4. Use the surroundings
We don't need a studio setup. An office corner with calm light or a plain background can be enough. It makes it less set up - and the images more usable.
5. Think forward - not just about today
Once we've found a style, it's easy to repeat the next time you get new colleagues. I save images of the set-up so that the images are consistent over time. This saves you time - and gives a unified look to your organization's communication.
6. We see the images right away
During the shoot, the camera is connected to a computer screen so we can see the images together instantly. We can quickly find the ones we need to move forward with - and adjust along the way if something needs to be changed. This makes the process more efficient and means there is rarely a need for a long approval process afterwards.
📍 Bonus
If you need to get a lot through, I can also help you make a plan. And if you have graphic designers, press people or a communications manager with wishes for cropping or delivery - we'll take that into account from the start.
